We have all been there. The humidity goes sky high, and all of our hard work to look flawless goes kaput. The “less is more” approach to summer days is ideal, but if you are looking to do a full face of makeup, here are some tips for staying power.
1. Find a good moisturizer for your skin type.
You skin care routine should change between the hot and cold months.
There are so many amazing skin care brands these days, so make sure to find something that works best for your skin, but is still light enough to keep your skin balanced during hot days.
2. If you don’t wear primer, now is the best time to try it.
Depending on your skin type, during the colder season, you may not necessarily need to wear a primer unless you have oily skin. In the summer, if you are planning to wear medium to full coverage foundation and want it to stay put, wear an oil free primer. It helps to prep the skin for a flawless application and to lock in the foundation.
3. Change up your foundation.
Just like your skin care routine changes, your foundation should change as well. We tend to get a little more sun in the summer, so make sure your color selection still looks right. You can also try a foundation with a satin or matte finish, but avoid layering so your face does not look cakey.
4. Blotting Paper is your best friend.
These disposable oil absorbers are perfectly compact to fit right into a pocket in your purse! Make sure to dab, rather than swipe, across the face to help remove any excess oils you produce throughout the day.
5. Go for waterproof makeup.
Waterproof formulas are sure to keep your makeup from disappearing, and eye makeup from smudging. With waterproof cream eye shadows, eyeliners, mascaras and blushes, you can feel confident that this muggy weather won’t interfere with your makeup.
